Funky feelings

I tell my students daily that they will make me loose my marbles. Truth be told, I do, with or without their help. These past two weeks have been crazy and I have MANY funky feelings about graduating on Saturday.

Truthfully, I can't believe that graduation is almost here. I don't like it one bit. I don't do change and it's just down right scary. I like the secure feeling I have, in college, and will be leaving the to the unknown soon. Texas' is in a major education budget crisis and I have been told that I won't hear about positions until June, July, or August. Some have told me to anticipate even later. It's scary being an adult.

I am excited about being done with undergrad but it seems to have come too quickly. Teaching is my passion and I am ready to get out there but at the same time; I am scared.

Right now, I feel like I am loosing my marbles in more than one way.

What not to do at a college graduation

Today, I attended two college graduations. It was a bunch of fun and I really enjoyed them. I did, however, find some people's behavior and lack of respect interesting and totally disrespectful. My college president did say "this is a college graduation not a pep rally" before the names were called. He also said to wait until after all the names, per college, were called before making lots of noise clapping.

So to give you a feel for what I am going to list, I'll tell you, first, where I sat. I was in the top left corner with a friend. We were shoved closest to the wall as a family arrived late. Keep that in mind.

Top 5 things NOT to do at a graduation:

** Hoop and holler when you see a professor on stage

** Hoop and holler while a speaker is speaking

** Yell out "that's my sister" from the back of the auditorium

* Hoop and Holler when you were asked to just stand for your person

** Make a scene when your person is called and hold up the ceremony

It was that bad and comical at the same time. People these days!! It was an interesting experience and I can't believe I will be walking that stage in May (gulp).

You can laugh now!!

Sweet&Sour

Just a little update on how the weekend went before my NMM goes up tomorrow morning! This weekend has challenged my heart, made me smile, made me cry, and made me laugh.

My sister graduated and that was sweet (plus I cried). I got TONS of picts and that was so sweet :) I got to chill w/family friends & I also got to hang with my cousin from MO and that was AMAZING!

The sour notes of the weekend included my other older cousin telling me that children's ministers are lazy & the children's departments in a church do nothing. Mind you, she works as a youth pastor's assistant! Oh and it gets better...she told me my internship (you know, summer job) is stupid. Let's just say I got that fumed in ten minutes and my Nonni definitely got a venting phone call the moment I could escape.

While on the cousin note...she wants to argue, but uh...when I come back and defend my view, she gets irritated and says I am wrong and rolls her eyes...come on...I am supposed to be the younger one here ;)

Another sour note included the constant comments and nit-picking! We had 1o people in my house this weekend (about 50 for the party) and everyone was un-shy about making their snide little comments.

So there you have it! A short & condensed weekend for ya. YES more details will come later, but I am EXHAUSTED and have not gotten a good night's sleep since Thursday! Company leaves mid-morning on Monday too. I am SO READY for live to get back to normal!

Rough waters ahead

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that with my sister graduating, my family in town this weekend & all the festivities, I will be able to use the computer sparingly. So...this is your warning for the lack of posts! Also...my new internship has started out GREAT! I have been working a bunch and so blogging has taken a back seat, but I will eventually find a balance. Hope you all had a great week!

Have a great weekend

To grandmother's house we go...

Picture post time: enjoy the pictures of my friends and family. I do not have any pictures of me, but some will be taken soon!!! Enjoy the much needed picture post!!!

June 5th through June 8th, 2008

So this is how the brother felt when I told him that we were leaving on Thursday afternoon and it would take 5 hours to get to Houston.

The weekend was FILLED with these all around the grandparents house since it was GRADUATION weekend for my cousin Amy. I am so proud of her and her accomplishments. She will be attending TEXAS ATM university-WHOOP!

Then there was the cake that Gma ordered from Sams. She was a bit disappointed in the quality of the decoration, but I heard that it was a great cake to eat! I did not have any since I am allergic! The graduation figurine was Amy's mothers. She died of brain cancer about 10 years ago. It was very special to her.
Onto the graduation party. Amy's friend Ne-lou and Marissa came and enjoyed the festivities after graduation. They too loved the presents and helped open them. My sister also enjoyed helping with the presents. She is the blonde one!

Girls will be girls and they LOVE to pose for pictures!!

So overall, the graduation and family weekend was a success! It was very tiring, but fun.

Now here are a few stories from this weekend!
*****************************************************
FREEZE me OUT!!
Apparently, my brother LOVES to sleep in sub-zero temperatures. So when
we shared a room with twin beds, he turned the fan on high, shut the door, and
froze me out. I literally had to wear a sweatshirt to bed and socks! I slept under
the covers and woke up FREEZING!!! This kid sleeps in a freezing room, but
sweats at night. I totally do not understand ;)

Sweet Grandpa
My dad's dad is an amazing man to talk to. He listens and just lets me talk when
needed. But he does get blamed for LOTS when my grandmother is around.
Sweet Popsie (that is what I call him), just takes it and lets it go with a grain of
salt!! He has endured so much and I love all of his stories!!!

Grandma's directions
My grandmother is so sweet but is HORRIBLE with directions. She is forgetting
things and when directions are needed, she always puts her two cents in. I am so
glad that my dad had one of those GPS things, since he does not know Houston on
the back of his hand anymore;) Grandma is good with local directions, but one may
need backup ones for backup when going to downtown Houston.

Hope you all are having an awesome day and evening!

Enjoy your Tuesday night!!!
