7 hours...one way

Today I embark on a seven hour trip to my grandparent's house! You see, it's my grandfather's 80th birthday celebration weekend. It's going to be like a mini-family reunion as family from across the country are coming in for this grand event. It has taken weeks of planning and cooking all night (literally for me) for this weekend to be here. It has finally arrived. What am I looking forward to the most? The drive!

I love my family dearly and am excited to see them all but I love seeing life outside my window. I like driving through those small towns and seeing the difference between small and big towns. I like seeing new Texas signs and towns. I like the alone time. I love the time to spend singing along to music and seeing the different sides of Texas.

I have not seen my family since August so am excited to see them too. Indeed, I need the break but the anxiety and stress (with finals just around the corner) is a wee bit much for me to handle. So my mission is to relax as much as possible (ha) and enjoy the stories I will hear this weekend.

Happy Friday to you!!

The Shred...day 19

OK sweet peeps. I know I said today I would have the contest for my 500th post up today, but time has gotten away from me. SO I hope you can understand and watch for it tomorrow. I PROMISE to have it up after church, sometime on Sunday afternoon.

Day 19 is over and I am so glad. For some reason, level two kicks my patootie each day. So I am guessing tomorrow will be no different. Tomorrow is day 20 and on Monday I will start level THREE baby! Can you tell I am excited???

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Finally the weekend...

This past week has been exhausting, fun, adventurous, exciting, and non-stop ALL week long. VBS during the AM & PM sessions was FABULOUS and pictures will come soon. But right now, I am resting w/a sinus infection plus an ear infection times two. So I will catch up with all your posts soon. Right now, I am enjoying the weekend OFF and I hope you do too. Have a great weekend to your family and you!

Sweet&Sour

Just a little update on how the weekend went before my NMM goes up tomorrow morning! This weekend has challenged my heart, made me smile, made me cry, and made me laugh.

My sister graduated and that was sweet (plus I cried). I got TONS of picts and that was so sweet :) I got to chill w/family friends & I also got to hang with my cousin from MO and that was AMAZING!

The sour notes of the weekend included my other older cousin telling me that children's ministers are lazy & the children's departments in a church do nothing. Mind you, she works as a youth pastor's assistant! Oh and it gets better...she told me my internship (you know, summer job) is stupid. Let's just say I got that fumed in ten minutes and my Nonni definitely got a venting phone call the moment I could escape.

While on the cousin note...she wants to argue, but uh...when I come back and defend my view, she gets irritated and says I am wrong and rolls her eyes...come on...I am supposed to be the younger one here ;)

Another sour note included the constant comments and nit-picking! We had 1o people in my house this weekend (about 50 for the party) and everyone was un-shy about making their snide little comments.

So there you have it! A short & condensed weekend for ya. YES more details will come later, but I am EXHAUSTED and have not gotten a good night's sleep since Thursday! Company leaves mid-morning on Monday too. I am SO READY for live to get back to normal!

Random musings

This week has been interesting to say the least...

** This morning started off by me oversleeping and then I felt rushed all day long.

** Tomorrow morning I have to get up at 7:30 because I am renewing my CPR and First Aid certification from 8:30-12:30.

** I might actually be caving about a roommate for an apartment next semester since a 2 cheap bedroom is much easier than a one bedroom. We shall see and I will let you know what happens :) Still looking for an apt too!

** I looked at my final schedule already and on a M and W, I have three finals back to back...seriously!

** Where in the world did this ridiculous COLD COLD COLD front come from? Seriously...spring was starting to sound good and then BAM!

** Who in the world thinks that it is okay to give a test with stuff we have not covered? Geez!
** Hopefully next week will not be as bad as this week was... :)

** Stellan's heart troubles have been on my mind all week long and my "faith issues" seem to have lifted off my shoulders. HE is in CONTROL

Enjoy your weekend

It's Friday

Hi everyone...hope you all are having wonderful Friday afternoon. As for me, the cold and wet weather seems to have gotten me wrapped me around its fingers and I feel really yucky. Truthfully, I have been sick since Tuesday (great SB) but now I am on stronger antibiotics and prednisone too. Hopefully whatever junk is in me will leave soon since I go back to school Monday. Insert excitement here

Today has been lazy and I am just fine with that. My family is going on vacation (more on that on NMM) and I will be home till Sunday. Which is fine with me except I go back to school on Sunday! It's actually okay I keep telling myself since I have 6 articles I need to write for my school newspaper that are due on Monday afternoon. Talk about procrastination at its finest!

If it's cold where you are, stay warm. If it's warm, don't complain and just enjoy it :) Soon summer will be here and can you believe these cold winter days will be the past? Hope you all have some fun weekend plans. Enjoy :)

Have a great weekend

Just wanted to let you know that after an extra 45 minutes was placed on my route home because of accidents and oil spills, I am home :) The next 72 hours will be a whirl wind but I will definitely try to keep most of my comments to ya'll in check. Let the games begin!

Have a great weekend

Update & a bit of amazing insight

First of all, thank you for praying for me to feel better and get well soon. Granted, I still feel lousy but am hoping by the weekend that the tapering off of steroids (that are making me dizzy) will help a bit too :)

Second of all, I have a friend (Sara) who allowed me to look at "x, y, and z" in a different perspective. Since they told Sara and I that our first test in Activities in Elem PE would be killer and expect to fail, she told me that drove her to study harder and prove them wrong. Well, I guess our studying paid off because we both got "A's" on our first test and 95's on our killer lesson plans we did for Monday. So as for "x, y, and z," I am taking my bloggers advice and "shutting them up."

Seriously! Liz and Gen were the first two commenters who said the same thing about "x, y, and z" (telling them to shut it/there is always a few in school) and I totally agree. I have also come to the conclusion that "x, y, and z" don't/won't study, so I am at an advantage also. Thanks for all the comments about "x, y, and z" too, they really lightened my day.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Mine is full of homework, but I am squeezing in a few lifetime movies as well. Seriously! There is nothing better than movies and homework in bed :) Try it sometime.

Enjoy your weekend

Being spontaneous

I've noticed a trend lately, I seem to become a debby downer by the end of the week since school/life seems to speed up and get rough. Yes I still blog, but actually have had no motivation to post lately. I am tired and wiped when I get home, so imagine trying to do homework, laundry, cleaning, cooking, checking emails, and blogging while sleepy. Mind you, I did not sleep well at all last night because I decided to change my dull weekend this weekend.

This weekend, my friend and I are driving to Lampasas and being spontaneous. We both have a required event on Saturday morning, but around 2ish tomorrow, we are hitting the road. Destination: no phone service, no Internet, just peace and quiet plus being able to see my mom, dad, brother, brother's friend, sister, and sister's friend as a plus.

My dad and his company have several hundred acres of land (where they hunt as well) and everyone is heading up there this weekend. They are already there and looking forward to my friend's and mine's arrival. I am hoping it is just a 2.5-3 hour drive. My friend will be my direction helper since I have never gone from collegetown to Lampasas before. Yes I have been from my house, but it is different...me driving and no parents to direct. So if you think of me tomorrow, pray for safe travel and direction. I have an idea and map to where I am going, but it is just different w/o the parentals there.

Dad and I had a conversation last night too and he asked why I was driving 3 hours there for just about 20 hours, then driving back and starting another week off. My words exactly..."I need a vacation and this is the only one I can get for another month." I need this little retreat. Yes, it's only for a couple of hours, but it is something. He may not understand, but I am so excited for this. I promise to take LOTS of pictures and relax just a wee bit.

As for the homework front, I am taking some with me and am hoping to type up stuff that is due Monday. Oh and did I forget to mention that I am teaching 15 home school kiddos PE for 45 minutes Monday...well I am. So I am hoping to get my lesson plans and activities done ASAP too.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Relax a little and enjoy time off :) I will be back on Monday to do the Not Me Monday and do I have LOTS to report too. Enjoy the sweet weekend folks!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

An idea for the weekend...

My plan for today and the weekend is to get ALL my homework done by tonight and just study for quizzes and midterms over the weekend. I am doing this to allow myself to have a little "me" time this weekend! I need it. Even though it is Homecoming weekend and I am already exhausted; movies may be the best bet. I also have to catch up on Grey's Anatomy online, since I have not seen any of the new season. What a concept that life goes on without Grey's!!!

Hope your Friday is relaxed and great!!! Life may be tough some of the time but it is so worth living!!!

Have a great Friday!!!

TGIF-Surprise...

Today started slow, but quickly sped up after I found a rat in our garage. It was so BIG and gross! What a great way to start the day. Then a kiddo got mad at me when I told him "NO" and stomped on my broken toe. I gently picked the boy up, told him no again, and asked him why he hurt me. He said it was an accident and I forgave him, since he was 3. Then I spent the day on the phone setting up electricity and Internet for where I will be living next year. By the time that was done, it was 4pm, so I chilled for an hour. Then got ready to go to the closing of VBS. Did that shin-dig and then came home.

Tomorrow, I start my day early as I have to have a paper in by mid-afternoon, am babysitting morning and night, and have another paper to complete by Monday. That is not all, on Sunday, we are going to a friend's real farm to get LOTS of stuff. Like black eyed peas, peaches, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, onions, and lots more. I am excited, but trying to fit a huge weekend into two days will be tiring. Plus, I am already tired.

An update on grades-I did get some back, others not yet. Right now I am at a solid "C." Not what I need though. I MUST get a "B." Now I am in full-mode and ready to fight. I will let you know how the rest of the class goes as soon as I know.

One good thing about today: My phone alarm reminded me that I am babysitting in the morning-OOOPS!!! Thank goodness for Reminders!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

I am just plain worn out!!! VBS in the AM and PM plus daily college work is TOUGH!! Loved this week, but glad it is over tomorrow night :)

I am just plain TIRED!!!

Will not get a bunch of rest this weekend, since I have two papers to complete, but am looking foward to the fourth of July and RELAXATION soon!!!

Have a great night!!!

All American Family

This weekend is full of one thing and one thing only: family! I love all of my family dearly, but this is like a mini-family reunion. Yesterday, my cousin graduated college and will attend Texas ATM university. The graduation party was at my grandparents home in Houston after. From about 7pm till 12:30am, there were all sorts of people in the house. I actually surprised myself and was up for the entire time! WOW!!! Then I just could not go to sleep for the life of me-oh well. I can catch up on my blogging at 2am.

Seeing lots of my family has been great and full of LOTS of laughter. I promise to post pictures soon and some may be before Monday. But when a gal is trying to hang with family, do an online summer school course, and entertain, time gets away from you. I enjoyed the graduation party so much and seeing everyone really brings back memories;). There was sure lots of laughter in our household on Friday night!

Tonight, we have a wedding to go to. It will be a late night! The wedding does not start until 6:30pm. So-my night owl side that is rarely shown will be out tonight! I will post more about the family Saturday later.

Have a great Saturday!!!

Tidbits of Information...

If you have not already figured this out, tonight's post will be long. So grab a chair and happy reading!
** On Friday, I received my report card for freshman semester number 2 and I had ALL "A's". I had to pick all of my teeth off the floor!!! I was so excited and even though I missed 30 days of school in Jan/Feb, due to illness, I still proved that I was able to keep up. Now I have a 3.7-Woo Hoo!!! I am so proud and I am not trying to brag, I am just so excited!!!
** This last week, I also got my CLEP book to study for. Don't know what CLEP is? CLEP is an exam college students can take and if they pass a particular test, they receive credit hours for that course. I am now starting to work on my American Literature and American Government tests. It requires LOTS of studying and I think I am up for the challenge!!!

** Another test I have to take this summer is the THEA test. This test measures math, reading, and writing skills and basically spits out a number. I basically have to get a score of 240+ on each section. This test is being taken so that I can get into the School of Education. This requires more studying too! Oh Boy!!!

** This summer I also have to take a Critical Thinking class online from June 2nd to July 3rd. This is one of my prerequisites for the School of Education. So I basically have to take it. Oh Joy!!! I have heard this class is really hard, but I think I am up to the challenge!!!

** This weekend has been fun-brother and dad went on a Boy Scout's camp out and the house was really quite most of the weekend! I am starting to lay out a little, so I can have some color by the time summer comes:)!!! Got some new and fresh produce from a local market here and they were ALL so good!!! I am so ready for the summer fruits and veggies to get here!!! Swam a little this weekend and worked on my volleyball serve!!! I can still serve-let me tell you! Other than that, I have been doing great and had a really had a relaxing weekend!!! I think I needed it too!!!
** Onto my workout update-I am working out on a daily basis and definitely feeling it! Will keep you posted when things change:)
So I hope everyone is doing well!!!
Have a great Monday!!!

Sunday post...oh boy

Hello fellow bloggers~

It is Sunday and the weather is nasty outside. What happened to the 80+ degree weather? I have no idea. As of right now, it is 50 degrees and drizzling. What a change! Enough about the weather!

I loved being home this weekend. On Friday night, my family and I went to by uncle's 50th birthday party, then went for a church picture. What an evening. Then on Saturday, dad grilled burgers, I made a spice cake (w/o soy, wheat, gluten, or nuts)! It was so good. The whole family devoured it. Now I know it is a keeper. Dad also made chicken and green beans for dinner. They were both so good!!! Then I got back to Abilene about 11ish, but was not tired at all. So I stayed up really late, then we had a leak in our room. It was just an eventful night after all.

This morning, I went to church, worked at church, visited some friends, and am now back in the dorm. I am VERY tired and did not get much sleep last night, so I am hoping to be in bed by 10ish tonight.

This week should be eventful since I have finals the next week (May 5-8), so I hope I can just keep up and not get that stressed. A girl can only dream!! Now I have homework to do and just made some fresh coffee to keep me company, so I am off.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday! Remember to relax! I think I need to take my own advice. Oh well!

PS- thanks to all of you who leave me messages. They really keep me going! :)

Have a great week!!!

Just try me...

This week has been very difficult to say the least! Life as I know it is trying me! Some people just do not know when to stop trying my patience. I am usually a very nice person to everyone, but when someone breaks the rules, gets caught, then tells me that he is not going to stop his mischief, what am I supposed to do? Some people just have nerve!

This week has just been extremely long and trying! College kids have extreme spring fever and they are taking advantage of it!!! What is a girl to do??? So I am mad and trying to just relax. But it is easier said than done.

Weekend plans include going home to go an all-day conference in Richardson, TX. It is associated with Alpha Phi Omega. I am very excited!!! Then I will come back late Saturday night, go to work on Sunday morning, visit some friends, then do a lot of homework on Sunday afternoon!!! What a weekend plan! I am so ready not to have to do homework all the time!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Finally Friday

Finally, it is Friday. I have to admit that I am rather tired today. The weather is acting crazy again and this morning it was COLD! 48 degrees is not supposed to be present in April, but Oh well.

So as for my weekend plans, I have to go grocery shopping, see some friends in Abilene, reserve a storage space (for storing dorm stuff over the summer), make a return to office max, complete my brother's memory book for his birthday, and do the dreaded homework. I also have to work on Sunday, morning and night. So I have some on my plate, but not that much. I also have to do laundry.

Random thought today: After this semester is over, I am at sophomore status (30+ hours). When I return in Fall 2008, I will have 45 hours completed. I am still debating how many hours I am taking next fall, but it looks like 18. I know, I know, I am crazy, but I want to graduate in 4 years! SO I have to take a load!

So I hope everyone if having a wonderful Friday!!!

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!

Weekend Review and randomness...

This weekend was great. I got a new bathing suit in a smaller size than I thought I could fit into, got a new book to read in my spare time (when is that exactly?), and had an amazing dinner from Cracker Barrel last night.

So today started out strong and cold, 36 degrees to be exact. With the wind blowing it feels much colder. I went to my economics class and found out that I just did ok on my test. My teacher said that since I missed so much class due to illness, we would weigh the other tests differently. So that really lifted me up. Then I went and preformed some of my special projects Editor duties. I also learned that I will receive more scholarship money next semester. Some great news right? Then I ate and now I am back at the dorm and doing homework. My plan is to do homework for about 5 hours, go to work, then come back and do more HW. What a plan!!!

PS- I went and looked around at CATO yesterday and they have some great clothes. So next weekend, I plan to go do my least favorite thing (try on clothes) and also get some new clothes! I like looking just not trying on, so I will let you know how it goes!

Hope all of you have a great week!!!
