The Shirt & the comments...

After reading Suzanne's post about her shirt, I thought I would post about this shirt and the comments I have received as well. Thanks for the idea Suzanne.

This was my t-shirt, front & back, from VBS this year. Before this year, many volunteers would get a VBS shirt and not really want to wear it out in public do to the design or shape. But this year, the shirt made the A-list among the VBS staff, parents of children, and the children.

But it was outside the church that impacted me the most.

I received several comments, such as:
** "Cool shirt"
** "What a cool shirt...where did you get it?"
** "What a great shirt"
** "Nice shirt" liked this one the most since I got it from a guy at the aquarium
** "I like that shirt" from a 3 year old

The message this year is simple GOD is GOOD...all the time...All the time...GOD is GOOD!!!

I was amazed at the response of the shirt and will continue to wear it with pride. I am a VERY HAPPY camper this year too!!!!

Wordful Wednesday...meet Nadine

Meet Pastor Nathan! He is my boss this summer too :) Each day during VBS, a mission challenge was stated. If the money collected exceeded or met this goal, Pastor Nathan would have do a challenge. One day it was slimed by Hershey's syrup, another was drinking a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce, one was a pie in the fact, & then one was that Pastor Nathan had to wear the above dress the entire day if the VBS-ers reached or exceeded the goal. So Pastor Nathan turned into Pastor Nadine during the entire Thursday morning of VBS. This man is such a sport too. This picture has not been edited at all either :)

OH and yes, I have plenty more VBS picts to edit and post when I am feeling better. This was just a quick post :)

NOT ME Monday

** I did not have the absolute best time at VBS this past week!

** I did not enjoy watching movies all weekend long!

** I did not lay in bed sick as a dog while writing this post!

** My sister did not say while eating a dessert I can not eat "I actually feel sorry for you not being able to eat this cookie." Caring or Sarcastic...take your pick!

** I have not lost my voice, due to VBS, and sound like a whisper-er of sorts!

Ok! So there you have it! A Not Me Monday post...even while I am sick as a dog. Hope you had a great weekend!

Finally the weekend...

This past week has been exhausting, fun, adventurous, exciting, and non-stop ALL week long. VBS during the AM & PM sessions was FABULOUS and pictures will come soon. But right now, I am resting w/a sinus infection plus an ear infection times two. So I will catch up with all your posts soon. Right now, I am enjoying the weekend OFF and I hope you do too. This week has been interesting to say the least. VBS is occurring this week and I am working both morning and evening sessions. Life is sure hectic this week, but I would not have it any other way. So I thought I would put a VBS-spin on my THAKFUL list this week.

VBS-spin Thursday
** I am thankful for the children in my classroom(s).

** I am thankful for the sweet people around me who LOVE HIM!

** I am thankful for the amazing administrative staff who run VBS (this means you too Lorie)

** I am thankful for the amazing songs we learn at VBS!

** I am thankful for the teenagers who are the youth helpers!

** I am thankful for the parent helpers who encourage everyone throughout the week!

** I am thankful to be able to instill Jesus into children's hearts.

** I am thankful for the smiles, laughs, and hugs I have received this week!

NOT ME Monday

** I am not creating this post on Sunday night due to the fact that it is VBS week and I am tied up in the AM with my wild sweet preschoolers.

** I do not LOVE our VBS t-shirt design so much that I ordered another shirt for this week and to wear after VBS as well. I still do not wear my faded, purple VBS shirt from 2004 either :)

** I do not get this look when I tell people I volunteered to teach Preschool AM & Kindergarten PM at my church's VBS. I do not LOVE kiddos that much!!! Okay...I REALLY LOVE 'EM!!!

** While making chocolate muffins for me to eat over the week, I did not take an already made cupcake, dip it into the batter, and then eat it. Seriously people...it was REALLY good! Since I have allergies, it's the simple things that make my day.

** I did not enjoy the house to myself on Saturday night! Nope...I enjoy the noise and chaos all the time ;)

** I am not jealous of my dad & brother who escaped the TX heat & went to NM for a one week camping trip. Nope...not jealous at all!

Tired Thursday...

I am just plain worn out!!! VBS in the AM and PM plus daily college work is TOUGH!! Loved this week, but glad it is over tomorrow night :)

I am just plain TIRED!!!

Will not get a bunch of rest this weekend, since I have two papers to complete, but am looking foward to the fourth of July and RELAXATION soon!!!

Lovely Tuesday...

Its Tuesday and I am up at 12:45am. WHY you ask? Short story is that my family and I were planning a vacation, got all excited, and were up late. I NEED a vacation very badly! The dates are set, now we are just looking into places and prices.

VBS is going great!!! The morning session is interesting. Seven boys and three girls today. The evening session is more low-key and easier (I think). I really love all my kiddos SO MUCH!!! By the end of the day though, I love my shower and clean clothes since the Texas heat gets to me.

Now to my confession-I have never really said that "God put something in my path" until now. I love working with kids, granted. But I also love the preschool and special needs ages. They are like sponges and so sweet. I truly believe that I am doing what God wants me to do.

In other news, Texas is hot and humid right now, go figure. College course is HARD but okay and I am allowing myself to have LOTS of fun this week!

VBS begins...tonight

Our church, FUMC of Grapevine, starts VBS tonight through Thursday and the morning session starts tomorrow, Monday, morning through Friday. I am so excited!!! I originally was going to teach the evening crafts, but that changed 20 minutes ago when I got a call asking me to do the special needs kiddos instead. My answer was OF COURSE. This is my field and so now I am happy. For the morning session, I will do the Preschoolers. I love my special kiddos and my preschoolers so much!!!

Still reading my critical thinking book and just found out yesterday that I will be doing 3 papers this week. It will be one BUSY week!!!
