I escaped to Cedar Creek lake, in Trinidad, Texas, and it was a glorious four days. Here are some shots of heaven!

One of my favorite sounds

Even though Texas hasn't got much of this lately, one of my favorite sounds is thunder.

The lightening that usually accompanies it is awesome too. But I love thunder.

The rumble, the shakes, and the sound. It's just so peaceful. If I get to fall asleep with thunder, I just sleep peacefully.

Whether it's five minutes or two hours...

I love thunder!!

It's HOT outside

I was going to do a week in numbers post but that will have to wait until next week. Living in Texas, I expect it to be HOT but when the weather man says that it hasn't been this HOT since 1980, you know it's bad. We have had 16 consecutive days above 100* lately and it reached 106* plus more this week. Usually Texas has some really HOT days but it kind of fizzles out and we get some below 100* temperatures. Not this year. No rain in sight either.

I do have to say I am happy to report that people are not leaving their kiddos in the car and I hear about it on the news this year.

Back to the HOTness this year. It's HOT (did I mention that?) plus the air quality stinks and it humid. It's just not a fun atmosphere. So there has been a lot of indoor activities and exercise. I can tell you I dread walking outside by 11am since we are usually in the upper 90*s and it is miserable already.

I'm ready for the cooler temps. How about you?

Trust

This past weekend, I embarked on an adventure.
I drove over 6 hours (one way) to attend an expo.
I spent over 14 hours in the car this weekend.
But it was all worth it.

On Friday morning, I hit the highway around 5:30am. I knew it would be dark for another 2 hours but was so excited to go see the family I was staying with. So I started driving and quickly realized that the highway, in the country, that I was on would not be lit up. Panic set in as I drove by the yellow and white lines. I could see nothing on my right or left. I was SO thankful to passerbyers who lit up the highway for me. I quickly realized that my bright headlights would be my saving grace. I could have pulled off the road and waited until the sun came up. BUT that seemed like eternity. So I chugged along.

Let me tell you! Driving while not being able to see what road you are on is scary. Seeing the yellow in the {small} distance was encouraging but when it dropped out of sight...it was not! I was so thankful for the few tractor trailers and 18 wheelers that came by. I even let a bus pass me so I could see.

The payoff of the {scary} drive in the dark was seeing the world wake up before my very eyes. I was so glad I saw the pre-sunrise and the full sunrise too. The trip, thank goodness, was beautiful and I enjoyed seeing the small towns in Texas. Sure it was a LONG drive but if you ask me if I would make it again, I would say YES without blinking an eye.

Lovely Tuesday...

Its Tuesday and I am up at 12:45am. WHY you ask? Short story is that my family and I were planning a vacation, got all excited, and were up late. I NEED a vacation very badly! The dates are set, now we are just looking into places and prices.

VBS is going great!!! The morning session is interesting. Seven boys and three girls today. The evening session is more low-key and easier (I think). I really love all my kiddos SO MUCH!!! By the end of the day though, I love my shower and clean clothes since the Texas heat gets to me.

Now to my confession-I have never really said that "God put something in my path" until now. I love working with kids, granted. But I also love the preschool and special needs ages. They are like sponges and so sweet. I truly believe that I am doing what God wants me to do.

In other news, Texas is hot and humid right now, go figure. College course is HARD but okay and I am allowing myself to have LOTS of fun this week!

Have a lovely Tuesday!!!
