For the LOVE of flash drives

I admit it. It's true. I have fallen in love with...flash drives.

Known as thumb drives, USBs, sticks, flash drives, and "those things you stick into computers."

My flash drives, yes I have four, have held up incredibly well and I've never had a problem with them.

I never really appreciate flash drives until my senior year of college. Granted, I used them in high school and college but have never had to rely on one, small little drive, to protect my most valued project. You see, if I don't do the senior project, I don't graduate. So I've been working on my project to transfer to a CD for a long time now.

This little sucker, like the ones above, have saved my sanity more than once this past month. I'm now hooked on flash drives. :) The unlimited space, the ever correcting documents, and the drops on the carpet never have slowed down my flash drive.

Now I wish CD drives were as cooperating as flash drives.

Happy Monday!!

Always say "I love you" & say it often

Life happens, we get busy, and accidents happen in an instant. Sometimes people are killed or injured therefore remember to always say "I love you." Say it over and over again.

My brother came home from a 2 week boy scout camp in DC on Thursday night. I missed him like crazy! When say goodnight, I said "good night sweet boy, I love you." He replied "love you too." We talked again and repeated "the love you and too" round. Those three words "I love you" means so much and can make someone feel special and loved.

Moral of the story-say "I love you" often and over and over again! It will make some one's day and make them feel special. Either in the car, on the bus, in a plane, or while walking down the street, tell someone "I love you" and mean it!

"I love you" is priceless!!!

Love shown through tough times

I spend my Saturdays at a friend of the family's home and do laundry while spending time with the couple that live there. Through out the years and even before I was born, Donna and Bill have always been a part of my family's life. My mom and uncle grew up with Donna and Bill's children and my grandma went to High School with D. So this family is VERY special to my heart!

Donna's health over the years has not always been the best but she has managed. This year, though, her health seems to be taking a turn for the worst and she spends a majority of the day in her bed or in a chair in the living room. Her balance is off and she tends to fall backwards when she stands causing her to take many falls. These falls result in black and blue spots. But her spirit is still there most days.

Then her husband Bill, who is gold by the way, is there helping her each and everyday. Bill cares so much for Donna and it is amazing how much he loves her even through thick and thin. He pretty much stays with her all day, everyday. He takes her to appointments, rearranges appointments if she cannot go, and is there to help HER. He relays on a nurse who helps her bathe once a week, a housekeeper every other week, and those who come to care for her to get a break. When I am there, he has no problem leaving her. But he stays if no one else is there.

Donna may not understand why Bill cares for her each and everyday and does not leave her alone with out someone else there with her. But I do and it is in the vows they took over 50 years ago "through sickness and health" all the days of their lives.

This shows true love and it is amazing to still hear and see it!

Loving all...

This morning in church, my pastor spoke on the importance of loving all. This hit home for many families and I had the pleasure of talking with them today. It saddens me that the XXISD school system does not work with a child's needs and differences. It saddens me that these children are struggling because they don't test well enough. It saddens me to watch their parents/grandparents go through these struggles. This whole situation saddens me. Life for parents/grandparents of Special Ed students is NOT a piece of cake and some school systems work better than others.

Having been through this particular system eight/nine years ago, things do not seem to have changed. This BREAKS my heart. I understand protocol and testing...but come on...when there is a developmental/behavioral/physical problem with the child...do something! This is one of my MAIN reasons to become a Special Education teacher...I want to break through some of this nice (NOT) Red Tape and help those in need. Children do not deserve to be breezed over because they do not test well. This must stop. Every child deserves the right to learn and with the whole support of parents and the school, a child's success rate is higher.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant...it just needed to be written. I care SO MUCH for Special Education and its students and do not want children to endure what I did. Every child is unique and has his/her own problems. So what! Everyone was made by HIM and we, as people, have no control over HIS plans. HIS plans allow us to become prepared for life and sometimes it is challenging or scary...but with HIM...ANYTHING is possible.

We are family...

The song We are Family is going through my head right as I type this post today. This morning when I got up it was in the 40's and the high is 80-I think Old Man Winter is confused. I am so ready for it to stay cold. Then I began thinking of my family and how they are doing. I talked to most of them yesterday and to what I can tell; everything is just fine. My brother's shoulder is healing and the doctor does not think pins are needed! Hallelujah!!!

I have been thinking about what constitutes as a family. A family usually has members who love and support one another. There are usually some who say what they feel, but usually they are sweet. They may drive you nuts one minute then be nice the next. My family is this way. My mom and dad support me, my sister and I get along much better since I am 300+ miles away, and my brother and I still have our sweet moments when I can get him on the phone. He is such a 13 year old boy now. My Nonni is so loving and supportive and my dad's parents are there to whisper something sweet to me. This is a nice painted picture of my family. We may not always agree, but I would sure be upset if something were to happen to them.

Now onto my blogging buddies-you are in my family circle as well. Katie, Tobi, Angie, Tyne, Suzanne, and many others comment on my blog and leave me feeling happy. YOU ARE ALL APPRECIATED!!!! When you leave me encouragement or just tell me hi, it warms my heart. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

I hope everyone's family is well today and hope ya have a great Tuesday!!!!

Enjoy Today!!!!
