Why early voting rules

Yesterday was election day and I heard the stories of people spending HOURS in line just to vote. 

I just don't get it. 

Why did people not take advantage of early voting? 

I mean, it was so easy. It had extended hours too.

I voted three weeks ago, on a Saturday, and only waited in line for 15 minutes. I saw neighbors and friends in line too. It was like a mini-reunion and non-stressful. 

Early voting, for me, is easier than voting on election day.
