There are a few professors that...

R-O-C-K!!!

One professor, in particular, answers emails at 9 or 10 at night and tells your to call her right then. She gives out her cell phone number and is so sweet and supportive. Dr. Simmons is one of those professors that truly cares and ROCKS!!!

Did you have a teacher or professor that totally rocked?

I could get used to...

* teaching every day.
* having students smile at me.
* watching the light bulb go off.
* being called Ms.H.
* rolling with the flow.
* being a teacher, in the classroom, with real students.
* making fun lesson plans.
* having a blast while teaching!!!

I am teaching third grade social studies this week and LOVE it! I created my own unit of four lesson plans and activities to use this week and the students seem to love not reading in their textbooks ;) I can't wait for what tomorrow brings :)

Have a fabulous Tuesday

How could...

a boy, who fell through the social work system, end up in high school with a 0.6 GPA and graduate High School with a 2.52 GPA? I'll tell you how...his adoptive parents, school officials, tutor, and FAMILY around Mr. Michael Oher made this possible.

The teachers at his school, finally in high school, helped him learn and understand the material being presented to him. They could have failed him and weakened his self esteem even more...but they chose to take his learning one step/day at a time and with that...Michael Oher graduated high school.

I am still amazed at how Michael Oher went from the streets to being a NFL player.

A few new things

A bunch has happened over the past few days and I wanted to fill you in a bit. First, I have added a prayer button on the top of my posts to the prayer vigil website for Stellan. I am amazed at how our blogging community has pulled together. A friend today asked me why I cared so much today about sweet Stellan since I was constantly checking my tweets and dashboard. I told her that Stellan's mama has brought us together through her blog and all I can do right now is PRAY. I am upholding my end of the bargain.

Secondly, I received my Pay It Foward prize from Amanda and IKEA prize from Tobi. A post will come sometime later this week!

Thirdly, this week has brought a break through with the teacher I was having difficulties trials struggles with. I actually enjoyed my art class on Tuesday night too. We had a conversation and understand on Monday afternoon as well. After an hour of discussion, I am hoping that the last 6 weeks are bearable and great...I WILL BE OPTIMISTIC! THANK YOU for all of your sweet and encouraging comments through this hurdle as well.

A few songs lyrics that I have mixed for how life's events are going:
GOD is in control
HE will raise your up on Eagle's wings
HOLD you in the palm of HIS hand

Shining in the light of HIS glory
This is the day

HE lives in me
I am a child of GOD

Tuesday Tribute for teachers

Wayne got me started on this Tuesday Tribute about a month ago and I won't look back. So many have touched my life and I am very thankful. There are so many people who make my life worth living and I promise to honor each one of you :) This week's tribute goes to:

TEACHERS

Some of you are teachers of Kindergartners or below and some may say that you have talent, I say you're a saint in my book. If you are in elementary school, you rock. Middle school...have fun and high school, you are just brave. Plus, if you teach special ed, you have a gift.

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for ALL that you do in those eight hours during each day, five days a week. You don't get paid enough...by the way. I do realize that it is not about the money since I am studying to be a Special Ed teacher and have been told as well, but there is something just special about teachers.

If you don't teach school, but teach in another way, like with kids. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! In my book, everyone can teach something and any teacher is SPECIAL. Anyone who cares to teach children about the world is SPECIAL. You are all heroes in my book too.

Thanks again for all that you do
