Questions answered

So some of you have asked me questions, now my mission is to answer them...here it goes:

** Lori asked: "What is your hardest course you have taken so far?"
Critical Thinking...it was required for me to get accepted into the Teacher Ed program. There were many tears shed with this one.

"If you didn't go into education, what would you have chosen for a learning path?"
If not education, then probably Social Work. I love working with kiddos and helping them succeed.

"What is your favorite tv show?"
Do I have to choose just one? There are so many...right now, Brothers&Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, and Army Wives. I know you said show, but there are so many, so I narrowed it to three :)

** Liz asked: "What made you decide to blog?"
Blogging started to be an outlet for me in college. I also had a friend whose mom blogged and posted many pictures of the kiddos on her own blog. It started out being an outlet and now is an outlet with friends, and yes I consider all of you friends, who care and listen/read willingly. Most times I receive comments that are from the heart and that just makes my day.

"Is your blog now what you thought it would be when you started it?"
I never thought that I would have so many commentors or followers. When I first started out I had one family who would comment, but that was it. Now I have hit over 2o comments and that just means something to me. On a daily basis, yes daily, I check on several blogs and some give me inspiration and others just crack me up. I have also "met" some of the sweetest ladies online. Occasionally there will be some male commentors, but usually someone will make my day. I never thought it would mean so much to me, but it truly does and I light up each time someone comments.

**Tbonegrl asked "What is your favorite family Christmas tradition?"
Every year, usually a day or two after Thanksgiving, my dad and I put up the outside Christmas lights. It is our thing that brother tried to get in on this year. Brother only stayed out for a few minutes since he was not needed. Usually we spend about 5 hours together and it is a great bonding experience. My mom and sister usually do the inside decor and the whole family decorates the Christmas trees. It is something that I truly enjoyed this year :)

** Haley asked "Who (outside of your family) has had the greatest influence on your life?
This is a toughy because there are so many people. Right now, it is Terry Minami. She works for the Dean of Libraries at HSU and has always encouraged me to be the best person I can be. I started out as a writer for the college paper and now am the new managing Editor starting in 2009. She never stops encouraging me and I love that about her.

** C.C. asked "What made you choose HSU for college?"
Honestly, it was my first choice. My HS counselor and one of the Special Ed teachers attended and it was also a really good visiting experience. HSU has a wonderful Education program as well. The people I have met here at HSU have been wonderful and life has been more fulfilling at HSU as well.

** Suzanne asked "When, Where and Why did you decide to "Follow Him?"
My faith has always been very important to me and my previous name for the blog was not fitting me well. When another blogger had a blog makeover contest, I entered and won. Hollie helped me come up with the name and I have loved it ever sense. I remember that I was in my apartment when I read the email to "Following Him" and I immediately replied back with YES. September 29th was the day the new 'look' went up and I have loved it ever sense. My faith will always be apart of me and now I can share a little of me whenever I want to.

** Tiff asked "What are you studying in college?"
Early Childhood Education through sixth grade and Special Education.

"When do you plan on graduating?" May 2o11

"If you have children, do you have names picked out yet?"
No names specifically but here are a few I like: Penny Elyse, John Patrick, Patrick, Christopher, Joshua, Kelsey, Alexis Marie...only a few...and yes I want kiddos!

** D.A.R. asked "What do you want to do after graduating?"
I would love to teach Special Education somewhere and if need be any EC-6 grade until a position becomes available. I will/have been told that I will be near family and I am okay with that.

"Where do you see yourself in 10 years?"

In ten years, I hope to be married. As for exactly where I will be in the US, I have no clue right now.

"What is your favorite way to treat yourself after a long week/day?"
I love being able to get a new magazine and just read it all the way through. It may sound little but after a stressful week it is pure bliss. Another treat is to see a new episode of Numbers on TV. It is the little things that count the most after a long week plus no alarm on Saturday is nice too :)

"What do you feel is the hardest thing about living your faith on a daily basis?"
When people, who call themselves Christians, criticize you for your true colors or being on earth when HE allowed you to be. People who do not practice what they preach drives me up the wall and Christians who say they believe in God, but do not show it is something I have learned to deal with-Which is HARD. I understand that every Christian is different and there is no cookie cutter person, but when you say you believe in the FATHER but do not live with HIM on a daily basis; there is a grey area that I do not understand.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
There are so many that it is hard to choose. I remember when my sister and I got home from school and my baby brother would be on the floor ready to greet us. I remember that he was on a blue blanket and would just look up at us like to say "Where have you been all day?" It was truly a special moment for us kids to see each other after a school day apart. Now my brother is 13 and all boy. But his smile still warms my heart every time I see him smile. It may not be like a "where have you been all day," but it is a smile and I will take what I can get.

Hopefully these answers give you a little insight into my life. If you have more questions, ask away. I will keep updating this post as more questions come.

This is a great idea, Elyse! I loved reading all your answers. It gives us a great glimpse into your life, and helps those of us who don't really "know" you get to know you better!
I know what you mean about your "little" brother's smile lighting up your day. I have four younger brothers, and they all have that effect on me! :D
