Today I braved "Bold in the Cold"

Baby...it was cold outside with the winds going 30+ miles an hour and being by the lake. Even though my bed was tempting this morning, I braved the cold and fast walked the Bold in the Cold.

Let me tell ya that my nice family did not do this with me, no most of them were in bed and I was thankful. Why you ask? Because this was my goal and I needed to do this myself. I started of great, but those uphill battles were interesting. With the winds and the cold, it was BITTERLY cold and I sure did feel it during that first mile since my hands were numb. But after that, I was just fine. The race started at 8am and I was in my car driving away by 9am. My time was 40 minutes. Not my best, but with the cold and wind, I finished and I was NOT the last one...which I was afraid of...thank goodness!

So thanks for the well wishes, it was DEFINITELY worth it and was so much fun considering the weather. To reward myself, I got a large cup of Starbucks coffee and loved it. My family was a little surprised that I was done so early, but I am so glad that it is over with.

2009 Resolutions

I know it's about time but this year's resolutions have been very difficult to come up with. So here they are...right off the presses of my mind :)

** Make time daily to read the Bible. Some days are busier than others and I get busy, but now I commit to read the Bible each day.

** Live a happy and healthy lifestyle. Understand that there needs to be a few sweet treats in life and that fun may overrule exercise sometimes. BUT at the end of the day...be happy!

** I thought about this one for a while and decided on: Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, 3-5 days a week.

** Before committing to anything BIG, evaluate life and all that is going on before committing. Then say "yes or no" to whatever needs an answer.

So above are my resolutions...goals for 2009. I know it took forever, but I actually had to think about these more than the previous' years.

Hope you and your family are having a wonderful weekend. I still think that the weekend needs to be longer and that there needs to be more hours in the days...sometimes.

Guess what????


I entered a 5K race to take place on January 10th (Saturday) at 8AM. I am so excited :) I have been walking 2-3 miles a bunch lately (3-6 days/week) and have been prepping for something like this. I found out in November about this event...but waited to see how I was progressing with my walks/workouts before I registered. I registered last night. This 5K is a motivational tool I am using to workout during the holiday break. I love walking and to be able to participate in something that gives me a workout...I'm all for.

Please be supportive in my decision to endure Bold in the Cold. I am doing this because I want to and am very excited for this event. Hope you all are enjoying your last prep weekend before Christmas. I know this time of year can be stressful but the special moments with family and friends can be remembered forever. Try to relax a little :)

Just a little cleaning...

This week has been full of stress, so after work, grocery shopping, and dinner. I decided to give my whole apartment a good scrub down. I vaccumed, dusted, mopped, scrubbed, and cleaned every nook and cranny. I actually felt way LESS stressed after I was done. Guess I found a new stress relief that does good :) Everything is now clean and tomorrow all my laundry will be too ;)

My dad may think I have gone nuts since I did not go out and have "fun," but I am now less stressed about my homework weekend and all that is included. Nothing glamerous, just studying up a storm.

I will hear the alarm at 7:30am since I am participating in a heartwalk that will be three miles. I am excited and glad I will get my workout in early :) So yes this weekend is packed full, but hopefully I will be able to relax here and there while doing wonderful homework. Oh yay!!!!

Success this morning...

So this morning, two buddies and I got up in the wee hours and went to a 5:45am workout class. I am already sore and know it will intensify today, but over all the class went great.

We had to do this class for one of our fitness classes to fulfill the group exercise part. Glad it is over. Yes I will still workout and get up early though.

Exercise buddies...

Tomorrow morning while everyone is still sleeping, two friends and I are going to be attending an exercise class at a local health center. For our wellness and fitness class, we all have to attend a local club and take a class for free. The time of this class is 5:45am. We are meeting at 5:35am, which means I have to leave at 5:20ish. Have I lost it or what? Then I have a full day planned along with a 9pm meeting tomorrow night. The three of us have agreed that this is the best plan, so I may be a tad tired in the coming days. Other than that I am EXCITED!!!

I also have another "workout date" that I will be attending on Thursday. Since the above will count as a lab, I will not have that 50 minute class on Thursday. Therefore I will be walking with a friend-YAY!! I know, I am excited!!!

I think in some way exercising with a buddy does help. Sometimes I want one and other times I am fine by myself.

This week is busy and I have LOTS to do, but my workout buddies and I will sure have some fun.
