Looking & learning from by brother

My brother, lately, has been a total rock star for me. He typically is a guy of few words and isn't always the easiest to talk to. However, since my sinus surgery in early June, he has been my rock star. He checks on me, still, and makes sure I am okay. Usually, he is there when I need him most.

Tonight, I came to the realization that I need to take notes from him.

I will admit it. I get grumpy around nine and brushed him off when he had a question. My heart swelled up, though, when he said "I'll check on her if she makes noise."

You see, around 9 he is tired too and my parents or myself usually deal with the dogs. Well, I was ready to be done for the day, our parents are out of town, and his phrase"I'll check on her if she makes noise" refers to our Doberman who can bark and get crazy at random times. He said the right thing at the right time. He is actually listening to me and helping me. I nearly fell over. ;)

This boy drives me crazy on a daily basis. He is SO laid back and black and white. He is not easily bothered and doesn't get upset that often. Gosh, I would love to have a little of his laid back-ness. :) He is also seven years younger than me. He may be taller and wiser but he may never know how much I gain from him as a brother.

To be carefree and so laid back...a dream

He cares and it truly shows when you stop the craziness called life and just listen to him.

This weekend has been awesome. Actually, this month has been awesome and I am truly grateful for my brother. I am learning that I have to let go and be a little less structured then I am all the time. If he can do it, I can try.

He allows me to be real around him, isn't afraid to tell me I am losing it, and is making me a better person.

He's a keeper of a brother indeed

My brother is one of my biggest supporters. He talks from the hip and is what one the most black & white people I know. His face says it all when he gives me his full attention.

He can talk me off a ledge and help me through things. He's can also drive me batty. ;) But hey he's a teenager and a boy. What can I expect?!

He may only be 17 but he has a huge heart. I {literally} look up to him and hope that I can have that poise and strength he has one day.

He's my brother and such a keeper!

Meet our newest member of my family

Meet Ember!

She's our newest edition to our family.

Ember is a Goldendoodle and has already stolen our hearts. She is about 7-8 weeks old and is so sweet and calm. She is my brother's new dog and we already have fallen head over heels for her. He is making all of the decisions for her. He can already make her bark when he jumps like a frog.

Her first night at home

Not too crazy about the collar yet.

Sleeping so soundly

Stolen our hearts already!

We got Ember today and already love her!

Dedication is...

* Sitting in the rain & getting soaked while at a football game.

* Being soaked and staying through the football game.

* Watching and seeing excitement on your brother's face.

* Seeing my brother complete a play.

* Football players being pumped up all game long in the rain.

Chargers won 35-8! Great game and dedication was shown through the players even with the rain.

High School football, in Texas, make my heart happy!!!

It's time for him to come home

My brother has been on a Boy Scout adventure since last Tuesday.

It's time for him to come home!

I miss the boy like crazy.

It's time for him to come home!

It's so strange that he's not here.

It's time for him to come home.

His smell, the good one, is not around/lingering in the room these days.

It's time for him to come home.

Now I got a glimpse of what he got when I went to college.

It's time for him to come home!!

He's 16

(March, 2o11) A boy of few words and does not like the camera.

(August, 2009) One of my favorites

Today is my brother's birthday. He would probably roll over if he knew I posted a whole post for him. :) For the record, he is taller than both sisters and his mom too.

Happy 16th Birthday, Christopher!!!!!!!

Happy Sunday!!

It's football time & a brag

Let me paint you a picture! It was 105* in Dallas on Friday night. My brother played in a 3 hour scrimmage against three other teams. They had breaks and we got there at 6pm. He did good and is a freshman in high school! It was hot!!! I went through four water bottles. The sun was beating down on me most of the time. I did see a beautiful sunset though! The smell of sweat was in the air. Great conversation happened in the stands. It was hot! Did I already mention that?

All four teams looked great! One player, from another team, was taken off the field on a stretcher and in a C-collar! I am sending good thoughts and prayers to that family! They worked on him for a while on the field and in the ambulance. Something, the fear, I hope I never go through!

Brag on my brother-he is a freshman and one of the newest Varsity AND STARTING Offensive Line player as of 10pm on Friday night! He is 6 foot, 1.5 inches, and is all muscle! He is a stud and I am very proud of him! I don't have a recent pict of him as he despises picture taking. I'll work on that. I am sure you will be getting more info and stats as I know them.

Did I mention...
I love football?!?!

Have a fabulous weekend!!!

I have to get up how early?

Yesterday, my mom, sister, and dad went out of town at 6:30am.

Today I had to get up at 4AM for the boy above, my brother, so that I could drop him off at the drop off for camp. He is a boy scout and this week, Troop 28, will be headed to Colorado. YES I am SO jealous that he will have cooler weather but I hope he has fun. Oh and just for the record, we got to the drop off at 5AM, he helped others load the bus, and the bus rolled outta the parking lot at 6:30. It was interesting to see him interact with others while I stood back. He is gone for a week and I am happy for him.

Oh and in case your wondering, I have the house to myself until Wednesday morning. Dad is OOT until late, late Tuesday night, brother on Saturday, and my mom/sister come back June 28. What am I going to do with myself?!?! ;)

I may have gotten up WAY too early but I saw a beautiful sunrise that made up for it! Oh and a cup of coffee too.

Have a great Saturday!!!

Just Believe

"There is a Santa Clause," my brother C, said two years ago. Some boys and girls had lost their faith in Santa and thought they knew the "real" truth. But those children lost something that my brother had and that was hope and joy. C now knows the truth but says that "you just have to believe" and he is SO RIGHT!!

So as a reminder to all of you who read...just believe and see Christmas in a whole new light.
If you have children, see Christmas through their eyes.
If you watch the Christmas movies...just Believe!
There is nothing wrong with believing!!!

Just Believe!!!

Oh Brother...

Sweet handsome brother has been the only "child" in the house since sister and I went to college and according to my dad...brother gets treated much better! HA!

Anywho...this morning, dad asked brother to get him a Diet Mountain Dew out of the laundry room refrigerator. Brother kind of sluffed it off and dad said HE made him {brother} breakfast and that he deserved to be waited on. HA! Brother quickly remarked that MOM made him breakfast and dad only made the biscuits. Good one buddy...we sure got a laugh outta this one :) Dad did get his DMD eventually, but it sure made for interesting conversation!

Thought you would get a laugh out of this conversation :)

Football season is among us

Most states take their sports pretty seriously, but here in Texas it's a way of life. You see, since my dad played through college, it has been drilled in my head that football rocks and it totally does now too :) So when the Cowboys played in the new stadium on tv tonight...guess what our family did??? We watched the game sweet peeps!!! And yes I loved it.

If you don't know about the new stadium the Dallas Cowboys have...then just google "new cowboys stadium" and you will see why this $1.2 million dollar place is a big deal. A funny thing happened tonight though & I thought I would share. There is a jumbo-tron behind the goal and up about 100 feet. Well during several kicks/goals it was hit and so it was the topic of discussion between the announcers and our family tonight :o You would think someone would have thought of raising it a tad...don't you think?? Oh well!

On Saturday morning my brother has his first scrimmage on the 8th grade football team and we are all going. We have to leave at 8:20am. I am BEYOND excited here people. If you can't tell...I LOVE FOOTBALL! I am hoping to see how well the team is and how well he does tomorrow.

Side note...I took him to orientation today and the coaches mentioned how tall he was and how he was as big as some of the HS players. This sure made his and their day :) He is in 8th grade and is, I think, 6foot and 1inch. Plus he is SOLID so he is well liked by the coaches already.

Thought I would give you a little more insight about my life too. During all four years of HS, I was my football team's water girl, manager, and trainer. That's right, I taped feet, smelled sweat, traveled with the team, and enjoyed every single second of it! I felt so included and loved the underclassmen below my grade level. The head coach was totally amazing and allowed me to even letter in football when I got a letter jacket.

So you see sweet peeps...football runs in the family and I can't imagine life without it!!!

The Shred...day 9

That's right sweet peeps! I am almost done with Level one. Thursday will be my last day on Level one for Shred and Friday...I start a whole new level{gulp}! Tonight actually went extremely well and my sweet brother actually joined me in some of the workout part. He is in "training" for football, so he had already worked out for the day. He actually liked it and I enjoyed the company.

Day 10 will be tomorrow morning evening and I am SO READY!!!

We went to the zoo

We (Brother and I) went to the Fort Worth zoo on Friday (7.10) and it was HOT, but we had fun. Brother kept asking me if I took as many picts as I did at the aquarium, so I took TONS. Here are a few to keep you tide over for the weekend!

So far in picts

Here are a few pictures to tide you over until I have time to edit/weed out picts and actually do something with them. The below picts are from making cookies for our fire department to a morning (w/bro and I) at the aquarium plus a view picts from Downtown Dallas. So enjoy!

Next up...Friday's adventures from the zoo!
